Every year, Japan’s Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA) releases annual statistics for its member companies. The downward trend of the last few years continued through 2020, with 8.78 million units shipped, down from 15 million in 2019 and 20 million in 2018. Clearly, the COVID-19 global pandemic did not improve the trend, which was already in decline.
